Christianity

What is Christianity about?

Well, it's not about a religion,
It's not about going to church on a Sunday,
It's not about being a good person,
It's not about following a lot of rules,
It's not about some out of date ideals,
It's not even about wearing sandals!

So what is Christianity all about? It's about Jesus Christ.

When Jesus came to earth 2000 years ago he came with one purpose: to die. We by our very nature - and in all the wrong stuff we think and do - reject God. He created us to be in a perfect relationship with Him, but we turned our back on Him and tried to go our own way.

God is just, and so He has to punish our rejection of Him, but Jesus, God's Son, was perfect, and so he died in our place taking the punishment we deserve. He then rose again because God accepted this substitution, and now we can be reconciled to God and eternal life with Him in Heaven if we trust that we can be forgiven because of Jesus' death and let Him rule over our lives.

Christianity is all about Jesus Christ

It says in the Bible, which tells us about Jesus life, death and resurrection from the dead:

Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth and the life.' -- John 14:6

It isn't an old religion full of rules: it's a radical way of living, of experiencing true peace, happiness, and forgiveness because of the death of Jesus.

'But what about you,' he asked, 'Who do you say I am?' -- Luke 9:20

2 ways to live

The message at the heart of Christianity is really quite simple - simple enough to be outlined in a few pages. It is a message from the Bible about God and His son Jesus. It is about life and death, and the choice that we all face. And it all starts with a loving creator God.
